Seven women and the Cuban Revolution
Published in Unknown Binding by Lugus ()
Author: Marjorie Moore
Average review score:

Seven Women and the Cuban Revolution, living history in Cuba
Seven Women and the Cuban Revolution, by Marjorie Moore, is a small jewel I unearthed while researching history and the current state of the island of Cuba. It is written in chapters which deal with the experiences of women from different social levels in the prerevolution society of Cuba. Each of these women have different stories to tell and each chapter can be read seperately from the whole. The sum total of these chapters gives insightful knowledge not only of the individual lives and circumstances of the women, but also the Cuban psyche and history.

Fascinating and easily readable, I recommend this well written short book to all interested in the history of postrevolution Cuba, as well as those interested in the current state of the island, as seen through the eyes and lives of real women, untainted by poitical agenda.

Even better than the Wraith Player's Guide
Don't be fooled by the title- although it focuses on the dark side of every Wraith, this outstanding book contains tons of important information on all sorts of subjects- from exactly what your Eidolon IS, and when it comes into play, to roleplaying romance and love.

Other important topics covered include exactly how Castigation affects your Shadow- and while your Shadow is by definition your adversary, the isn't always your enemy. There is a lot more to Psyche/Shadow interaction than just "I'm the Good Guy, he's the Bad Guy."

Every Circle of Wraiths should have this one- you owe it to yourselves... and to your Shadows. :)

Shakespeare: A Study and Research Guide
Published in Paperback by University Press of Kansas (January, 1987)
Author: David Moore Bergeron
Average review score:

An outstanding guide
"A classic in the field; in fact, it has the field to itself. Every scholar in Shakespeare studies knows about this volume."--William Carroll, author of *The Metamorphoses of Shakespearean Comedy*
I am certain that this book does indeed have the field to itself; and the assertion that every scholar in Shakespeare studies knows about this volume is probably no exaggeration either. This is a truly excellent publication, and it can safely be said that every serious scholar in Shakespeare studies SHOULD know it. The book has a final section on the writing of a research paper which is very sound and helpful, but the bulk of the material is, quite rightly, concerned with the task of guiding anyone who wants to get a good idea of what kind of thing has already been said about Shakespeare by scholars who, whether "right" or "wrong", have made a substantial contribution in their work on the author. Obviously there is a real difficulty deciding what should be included in a book of this nature, but the selection has been wisely made. Very sensibly, there is no over-emphasis on what is recent. Thus S.T. Coleridge, for example, who remains one of the most important of the early commentators, is included, but so is e.g. Stephen Greenblatt, who is among the best-known modern ones. It is striking, too, how objective, accurate, and clear the authors are in their descriptions of what scholars have to say. This is no mean feat, since they are dealing with a very wide range of material, and include authors whom many would not be nearly so objective and factual about. As for the fact that the book is now a few years old: that is no reason for not buying it. After all, the few years NOT covered are only a very short span in the wider scheme of things, and it is certainly possible to find out about more recent publications by consulting e.g. reviews in *Shakespeare Quarterly*. At the least, this guide will direct one to the more important publications until the time of publication, and it is possible to decide from the descriptions supplied whether or not an item discussed here is likely to supply one's need. The book thus saves one a good deal of time as well as informing one about major statements and trends in Shakespeare scholarship; it is an essential tool for anyone doing serious work on the author - certainly if not a beginner, though even a beginner willl find the book accessible and informative enough to be of use. - Joost Daalder, Professor of English, Flinders University (South Australia)

An Excellent Educational/Fun Book
This is an incredibly fun and informative book. My 4 year old and I enjoyed it immensely! And it made such an impression on him, that he decided to take it to school and give a presentation to his class about sharks! As a pre-school teacher and parent, I highly reccomend it.

Sideshows
Published in Paperback by Livingston Press (September, 1994)
Authors: B. K. Smith and Daniel P. Moore
Average review score:

B.K Smith: Exploring the Metaphysical and Mundane
Although the name B.K. Smith is not a household word today, her talents have been widely recognized by the literary community. Sideshows, her collection of short stories, is one of the most impressive and important works of literature to come from the South since Eudora Welty. Ms. Smith creates characters with whom we can identify and often whom we feel we know. The characters in Sideshows face mundane concerns in the tradition of true Southern realism. But unlike Southern Gothic, these characters somehow manage to continue in the face of enduring pain. Her characters are like most of us: alive and triving, but with an overwhelming sense that something in life is missing. These charcters learn to manage their disappointment with a fascination to detail in their surroundings. Setting is paramount to this work and often takes the reader into a surrealistic world. After studying this work and considering its symbolism, the reader is left with an overwhelming feeling that he/she has just traveled from the metaphysical plane. Only a second reading of the collection will assure you that you are right. B.K. Smith is a talented writer and there are many people waiting for her next book. Often we overlook the genius of our contemporaries, but Ms. Smith is admired and respected by her peers. Today, this collection is taught on many college campuses throughout Alabama. As both a critic and a teacher of literature, I can assure you that B.K. Smith is a writer you will hear much more from in days to come.

Silence of the Body: Materials for the Study of Medicine
Published in Hardcover by DIANE Publishing Co (June, 1993)
Authors: Guido Ceronetti and Michael Moore
Average review score:

Galen Through The Lens of Cioran
Unfamiliar with Ceronetti's work, I discovered this text through a reference to it in E.M. Cioran's ANATHEMAS AND ADMIRATIONS. It seemed worth checking out, since a.) he was keeping company with profiles of Borges and Beckett, always a good indicator, and, b.) the slip of information that Cioran wrote seemed to suggest that the author was perhaps more pessimistic than Cioran, which I had to see to believe. Anyway, this is something like a gloss of medical history for the past few thousand years, viewed with a very grim and gimlet eye and with a focus on the less pleasant aspects of the bodily experience. The selections are generally as pithy as Cioran and sometimes as vicious, but all in all Ceronetti seems a bit more even-tempered. Nonetheless, for fans of the Rochefoucauld/Nietzsche/Cioran school of merciless epigrams, this is strongly recommended.

Simple Freedom: Prayers for the In-Between Times
Published in Paperback by Thinkers Press (August, 2001)
Author: Marcia Moore
Average review score:

The Truth WILL Set You Free!
This book gives the individual a track to run on in having a life free from fears, failures, and other things that have caused the person to have a wounded spirit. The explanations and actual prayers to send directly to the throne room of God are based on the truths found in the Bible.

The author has stepped out in a walk of faith to present to the public the REAL root causes of problems in their lives. As deception is the lie that is upon all of us, this author dares to address spirits that are definitely not of God.The individual actually is able to be rid of lifelong hang-ups as they are able to express their faith through the many prayer examples offered in 'Simple Freedom".

The ultimate goal of this book is to be a guide for everyone to have a life of peace. So whether the lie you have bought is one of infirmity, seduction, withchcraft, anti-christ, perversion, bondage, heaviness, anger, jealousy, pride, lethargy, harlotry or any other...peace is just a prayer away!

It is an 'easy read' of 135 pages. It truly is a power-packed book lightly touching all subjects of deception. It opens the door to freedom and closes the door/doors of turmoil. What price could possibly be placed on such valued knowledge?

Sister Dearest: The Sydney and Jane Story (Melrose Place)
Published in Paperback by Boulevard (Mass Market) (February, 1996)
Author: C. E. Moore
Average review score:

A Must for Melrose Place fans!
This is the only decent MP paperback tie-in that is fiction. The rest are boring, but if you're a fan of the show, especially the 2nd & 3rd seasons, this book is worth picking up! The writers of this one obviously know the characters of Michael, Sydney, and Jane well, because they act exactly like they would on the TV show. The story includes the months leading up to Michael and Jane's (first) wedding. At first, you think Michael is the Mr. Nice Guy he was until the end of season 1, but you find out pretty quick that he was a sleaze the whole time. Before the wedding he is up to his usual tricks cheating, lying, and scheming. Sydney finds out but as usual no-one, especially Jane, will beleive her. A really fun book and worth picking up if you're a fan of the show, especially if you've been watching since the early days, and if Sydney and Michael are your favorite Melrose Place characters.
